Sports Club Project

Dear Club Member,

For many years the club has held aspirations to improve our sports changing facilities, to bring them up to date but also to make them fully inclusive, so we can accommodate all members of our community and expand into additional sports. Plans have been developed over a number of years and the club was able to gain planning approvals in the summer of 2021.

We can now confirm that following a successful application to Tandridge Council (TDC) for funding support, the club have commenced on site investigations, prior to production and in support of an Invitation to Tender (ITT) for the building works required.

A copy of the agreed plans will be available in the bar area shortly (copy attached), which will be supported by a website together with Twitter & IG accounts that will be used to share developments and allow everybody to follow our progress.

The costs are considerable and given the Club’s need to remain fully operational our plans have been developed within 3 phases.

• Phase 1 -New entrance to the Club's function area.
This will allow total separation from sporting participants for function room users, which we hope will create opportunities to increase usage and revenue levels. Provide new toilet facilities and disabled access.

• Phase 2 - Complete new suite of changing facilities, attached to the clubhouse between the existing building and Squash Club.
These will be built to meet the specifications set by the relevant Sports Governing bodies.
Include additional facilities identified as requirements to help the club thrive in the future.
They can be built independently whilst the existing remain in use.

• Phase 3 - Refurbish existing changing Rooms.
Again, built to specifications set by the relevant Sports Governing bodies.
Provide immediate storage capacity for our function area.
Create an independent meeting room for club and community usage.

The support from TDC is specifically targeted at phase 2 and dependent on the club being able to complete phase 1. We are optimistic that additional funding can be sought from other areas to allow completion of the 1st phase without the use of club funds, which can be retained as contingency and a significant contribution towards phase 3, for which we intend to seek funding from various Sports bodies.

At this stage the club have brought together a small group of members to oversee & control the project as it develops, with the day to day management being undertaken by a local company called Sports Clubhouses who specialise in this type of work.

Finance is the key factor now and the club is considering all funding options including sponsorship and donations.
There will be a short presentation at the club’s AGM on Tuesday 26th July in the clubhouse at 8:15, otherwise just check out 1 of the following in the next couple of weeks for latest news and updates as the project progresses.
