Heater works - Club Closed

Dear [[firstname]]

The next phase of updating the club electrics and replacing the court heaters will involve a number of specialist contractors working simultaneously and around each other in order to complete the works efficiently.

To outline some of the complexities, the gas supply into the squash club comes directly from the main club and has no isolator valve. So, our gas engineer is having to shut off the supply to the main club in order to vent and purge the whole system before they can ‘cap’ the pipe in the squash club and start removing the old heaters. As this is being done, the electricians will run a heavy duty 3-phase cable from the electric metre box to the consumer board, then at an appropriate time, they will cut the power to the building and wire the 3-phase cable into the consumer board.

As the old heavy gas heaters are removed, a roofer will be repairing the holes left by the flues and as each heater comes out, the electricians move in to install the new electric heaters, thermostats and control switches In order to facilitate this work we are going to have to close the club completely from Monday 18th August to Friday 22nd August inclusive, and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Each court will need to have the floor covered and have a load sharing boards placed under the towers to prevent any damage when removing the heavy gas heaters and installing the new electric heaters. There will be some choreography between the gas engineers removing the old heaters and progressing on to the next court, while the electricians move directly in behind them on the first court.

There are lots of variables but by closing the courts for five days they are confident of completion, conversely and because we are giving them a clear space, they may finish or be able to release some of the courts ahead of schedule. We will monitor and update if possible.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may causes to anyone and thank you for your patience and support.

Kind regards,

WSRC Committee
